Master Builders Association of Pierce County (Master Builders Association of Pierce County) is proud to announce 2020 scholarship recipients, all of whom are pursuing higher education in the home building industry.
“Master Builders Association of Pierce County encourages young professionals to consider and pursue a career in the home building industry,” said Master Builders Association of Pierce County Executive Officer Jeremiah Lafranca. “There’s been a significant shortage in the trades in recent years. We hope Master Builders Association of Pierce County scholarships motivate and inspire students to further their education in this field.”
Two winners were chosen based on the applicant’s field of study, extracurricular activities and building industry work experiences.
This year’s winners are:
- Kenneth Brooks – Construction Management, University of Washington
- Jon Huntington – Construction Management, Southern Methodist University
The scholarship applications were reviewed and evaluated by a committee made up of Master Builders Association of Pierce County members, who then selected the winning recipients.
Master Builders Association of Pierce County’s scholarships are funded solely by its member donations. The 2019 fundraising effort raised just over $20,000 for our scholarship fund. Master Builders Association of Pierce County plans to use remaining funds toward developing a trades program for youth.
