Master Builders Association of Pierce County’s submitted comprehensive plan amendment to change density calculations in Pierce County urban areas from net to gross has been removed from the Pierce County amendment docket.
Because Pierce County Staff has issued a Determination of Significance (EIS) for our amendment, the Environmental Impact Statement required for our change would have held up the entire docket. In response, the Pierce County Council passed Resolution No. R2021-2 to remove our gross density amendment from the slate. You can review that resolution here.
The County will be exploring the impact of gross density through their EIS along with the buildable lands report that is being completed right now. Master Builders Association of Pierce County is currently pursuing short term and long term strategies of how to encourage Pierce County to use available land in the urban growth area more efficiently.
