About the State SkillsUSA Carpentry Competition:
On Friday, April 14, Pierce County Skills Center senior Olivia LeCompte competed and won the State SkillsUSA Carpentry Competition.
LeCompte said, “I just wanted to thank the Master Builders and the Building Industry Association of Washington for supporting me along my journey in the trades, it really helped motivate me to do things I never thought I’d be able to”.
Up next for LeCompte, Nationals in Atlanta, Georgia where she will compete against other first place winners from schools across the country. Good luck, Olivia!
History of Partnership

Master Builders Pierce partnered with the Pierce County Skills Center in 2021 with a donation of $5,000 to their Construction Trades program to assist training the incoming workforce and shorten the labor shortage gap in the skilled trades. Since the initial contribution, Master Builders Pierce assisted in mock interviews, a job fair, multiple tours, donation of 250+ tools and was named 2022 Partner of the Year.
The education and exposure of the construction industry is imperative to the future of the skilled trades industry.
